barbell pole as checked baggage?

has anyone tried checking in a barbell pole unto a plane similar to any baggage? are there any special arrangements to be made or fees? im thinking this is just similar to snow skis or surfboards. thanks

I’ve never tried that, but your logic sounds probable. I am sure it is done like other sports equipment. I would think the best way to be certain is to contact the airline.
