Laws for airbrushed shirts with logos for sale?

What are the laws about selling airbrushed shirts, art, etc. with logos on them.

I’m getting into airbrushing seriously and was wondering about this.

I’ve seen people airbrushing and selling shirts with logos from companies like Santa Cruz Surfboards logo, the planet logo for …Lost, and others.

Is this legal and can i do this or is their some rediculous royalty we have to honor…

It technically is considered “art”, and i’ve seen many people selling art with brands and logos in them.

Any help would be appreciated.

That is a good question, when you really think about it,,because on the one hand you are really giving them free advertisement by painting their logo on your shirts ,but on the other hand you are selling it to someone and not paying any royalties to the owner of the logo you have just painted It’s kind of a catch 22 I think that the owner of the logo will win out in the end ,even though you gave him or her free advertisement by doing their logos ,only because they will receive no monies from your profits on the shirts that you sell. You and I as artists see things differently then they do. But to sum it up the owner of the logo will most likely win the argument in the end and demand a Royalty on any thing you sell with their name or logo on it.
