What can I do with a Playstation 3 besides games, movies, music?

I know I can play games, movies, blu-ray, music, surf internet. I have had mine for a year now and I play online. I would like to know the other capabilities my ps3 has. What are some things you do? Could I install yahoo instant messaging for example? Download something else? I’m just curious what I’m missing besides what I’ve already stated. Thanks for any answers I receive.

-lets you install other operating systems: in which you can: -search web, use word processors, create programs, etc, etc, everything u can on linux anyways
-lets you watch DVD movies,
-lets you upload PS2 game save data
-lets you run software on the background to help get closer to solve medical illnesses
