LOST SURFBOARDS ONLINE

Posted on Saturday, May 28, 2011 in Surfing

I have a Motorola SurfBoard Modem SB5100 and a Lynksys WRT54G router that don’t seem to work together?

I have Comcast and for about as long as I have had internet with them I have had this problem. I keep losing internet connection, requiring power cycling of the modem. I checked it out online and the suggestions online don’t help. I swapped modems so that is not the problem. Does anyone have a known router model and brand that works with this model of modem?
I have had this combo since january and this has been an intemrittent problem since then. The advice I asked for is not for you to tell me that there is no such thing as incompatability between devices. The thing I asked for is specific routers that people use with this EXACT model of modem.

Any modem will work with any router. There is no brand incompatibility list. In fact, I used to use a SB5100 with my WRT54G. So dont worry about spending money on a different router. When your internet service cuts out, you need to look at the lights on the modem, as they will tell you exactly where the problem is. If the Internet or Cable light goes out, then there is a problem with your Comcast service. This is the most likely scenario.
