As for material, if you want to built a power kite, you need ripstop, either nylon or polyester. The nylon is probably best for power kites, the polyester is better for stunt kites. Nylon has more stretch than the poly, the nylon is also cheaper. Try www.kitebuilder.com for material. You don’t want to get ripstop nylon from fabric stores, they’re usually uncoated. Besides, I’ve been to several fabric stores and their nylon is more expensive than at kitebuilder.
