EPOXY SURFBOARDS LONGBOARDS
What’s your opinion on Al Merrick surfboards?

Al Merrick versus NSP or Kazuma? I was thinking maybe a 7′0″ Al Merrick Epoxy, but I just wanted to get some different opinions. Do you find one easier to ride than another? I’ve mostly used NSP longboards, but I’m looking for something a little shorter and sturdier. My home breaks are in central Cali, but I fly to Maui every summer to give my surfing a little kick.

Please feel free to share any comments or suggestions, and if you happen to know of any discounts or online stores please let me know.
Hang ten.
Thanks.

The first two young guys who answered you gave you wise and true information. I have been surfing since the 60s, and I am often impressed with their insight. NSP boards are made in sweat shop factories in Thailand by under paid, over worked people, many (most?) of whom have never even thought about surfing. they are popouts, built with little or no quality control and of marginal design quality. Al Merrick boards are real, high quality surfboards made by dedicated industry professionals.

While I am no fan of any epoxy surfboards, you won’t go wrong with a Channel Islands board. Read a little about popouts:http://www.mckevlins.com/nopopstory.htm
Listen to these guys, go to a good surf shop, where ever you surf, and take their advice. And don’t forget, there are LOTS of really great, small time local shapers who make boards every bit as good as CI.
