What is a good place to go surfing in hawaii around the end of november or early december?
Im currently a student in australia for the semester. on the 24th of november, i leave sydney airport, and would like to plan a stopover in hawaii.
I would really love to go surfing, but have never gone surfing before and would like to know a good spot to go.
I would like a place where i can learn how to surf, but catch a few big waves when i get better at it. i plan on staying for a week or two, and im usually a quick learner. I would like a place where i can easily get a surfboard and a wetsuit for the week, either rent or buy (then sell back at least the board).
I know the best places to surf around this time are on the northern shores of hawaii, but im totally lost as to which island is good to go to or which town to stay at. Ill only be there for at most 2 weeks, so i dont want to be horribly far from the airport.

It’s winter there at that time. . . . . . and it’s BIG WAVE TIME!
As you mentioned you have never surfed before it would be best to wait until you get there and find a break that isn’t getting the swell as much, or wait and go out on the much smaller days.
My suggestion, there are plenty of surf schools there, take at least one lesson!
2 weeks will give you time to explore the other islands too.
